Return Policies

The return policy applies to merchandise purchased from the Missouri State Bookstore and any of its affiliate stores. Be sure to bring the original receipt when making returns or exchanges. All returns should be handled at the Customer Service counter in the Bookstore.  Also, there is a 14 day waiting period for refunds on check purchases.

Textbooks:

  • New textbooks must be in new condition for a full refund.

  • For a full refund or exchange, textbooks purchased for the Spring or Fall semesters may be returned during the first two weeks of classes with a receipt and during the third week of class with a receipt and drop slip.

  • For a full refund or exchange, textbooks purchased for the Summer semester may be returned during the first week of classes with a receipt.

  • Intersession texts are returnable only with a receipt and drop slip by the end of the second day of class.

  • After the first two weeks of the semester, textbooks may be returned within three business days from the date of purchase with a receipt.

  • Highest textbook buyback amounts are given during the last week of classes and finals week.

  • New textbook bundles returned in an opened condition will be refunded at the used price.

  • Textbooks purchased during the last two weeks of classes are non-refundable.

Computer hardware, software and electronics:

  • Items must have been purchased within the past three business days.

  • Unopened items may be returned with a receipt.

  • Opened merchandise may be returned only if it is defective and only exchanged for the identical item.

  • We will place a special order for any item being exchanged for that is out of stock.

  • After three business days, the customer is responsible for contacting the manufacturer regarding returns or exchanges.

Non-returnable items:

These items may not be returned if opened.

  • Consumables (includes, but not limited to: flash drives, CDs, ink cartridges,  batteries)
